A post-grad program offers student-athletes the ability to spend an extra year improving all aspects of their life. Speights Academy is invested in helping athletes become, not only better basketball players, but also better in their academics, physical conditioning, cognitive conditioning, mindset, and emotional well-being. Many college coaches are looking for athletes with more maturity in these areas as it eases the transition from high school to college athletics and academics. A post-grad program prepares student-athletes to be able to handle the rigors of college academics and athletics. Post-graduate basketball is highly competitive and, with the right program, provides exposure to college coaches and programs that might not have been available to athletes in their high school career. A post-grad program, like the one offered by Speights Academy, creates opportunities to travel to events around the country giving you exposure to schools all over the country rather than just your local area.
SA is a post-graduate basketball program. TMS is a summer travel program. Some athletes will participate in both SA and TMS as part of their development while others don't join the program until the summer sessions are over and therefore only participate with SA. TMS offers summer travel teams at the elementary, middle and high school level. For more information on TMS programs
Some of the most expensive post-grad programs in the country range from $60,000 to $80,000 per year. Speights Academy costs vary by player as needs vary. Some student-athletes need housing and meal plans while others don't. Costs are discussed once your application has been reviewed.

Yes. We can provide living facilities and meals assistance for out-of-state student-athletes. Eat. Sleep. Hoop. Repeat.
While you don't have to take courses during a post-grad year it is always helpful to boost your academic abilities to broaden the recruiting spectrum. Some student-athletes have already successfully satisfied NCAA course and testing requirements and might wish to focus solely on their athletic development.
Speights Academy does NOT have a high school team that plays traditional high school teams. We are focused on the post-grad level of competition. However, high school athletes that are engaged in non-traditional types of academic programs (I.E. home school) and who feel they can contribute and compete at the post-grad level are welcome to apply for a spot in the program.
